What is covered
What Sage 300 Payroll does for BC businesses
Sage 300 Payroll is built specifically for Canadian payroll compliance. CRA tax tables are updated annually as part of the Sage Business Care subscription so your calculations for federal and provincial income tax, CPP, and EI stay current with each year's requirements. Quebec businesses have access to the additional provincial payroll tax tables as well.
Employee records in Sage 300 Payroll store pay rates, pay frequency, department and cost centre allocation, tax exemptions, benefit and deduction schedules, and direct deposit banking details. When a payroll is processed, the system calculates all source deductions automatically and produces a pay register for review before final posting.
Direct deposit is handled through EFT file generation that is compatible with Canadian chartered banks. After payroll is finalized, the EFT file is uploaded to your bank. Pay stubs can be emailed directly to employees, eliminating paper distribution.
At year end, Sage 300 Payroll produces T4 slips for all employees and the T4 summary for CRA submission. Records of Employment are generated for any employee terminations during the year. This makes the year-end compliance process a structured workflow within the system rather than a manual reconciliation exercise.
Key capabilities
Common questions about Sage 300 Payroll.
Common questions about this service answered directly.
Does Sage 300 Payroll support Canadian payroll requirements?
Yes. Sage 300 Payroll is designed for Canadian payroll, including CRA tax table updates, CPP and EI calculations, Quebec provincial requirements, T4 and T4A production, Record of Employment (ROE) generation, and year-end filing preparation. Annual tax table updates are included with Sage Business Care subscription.
How does Sage 300 Payroll post to the General Ledger?
Payroll transactions post to the GL automatically when a payroll run is completed. Each pay component, employer tax contribution, and deduction is mapped to a GL account in your chart of accounts. This eliminates manual payroll journal entries and keeps your labour costs visible in real-time financial reporting.
Can Sage 300 Payroll handle multiple pay frequencies?
Yes. Sage 300 Payroll supports different pay frequencies for different employee groups, such as weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly payrolls. Each pay group runs independently and posts to the GL at its own schedule.
Does Sage 300 Payroll support direct deposit?
Yes. Direct deposit is supported through EFT file generation compatible with Canadian financial institutions. Employees receive pay stubs by email or through a self-service portal depending on your configuration. This replaces manual cheque production for most payroll clients.
How does Sage 300 Payroll integrate with Project and Job Costing?
When Sage 300 Payroll is used alongside Project and Job Costing, labour costs from payroll can be allocated to specific projects or jobs. This gives project managers visibility into actual labour cost against budget for each project, and provides accurate job costing for billing or performance analysis.
